Will homosexual activists attempt to get their own version of marriage on a future California ballot?

Jim Garlow of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California, led the charge in approval of Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that protects the traditional view of marriage. But he believes homosexual activists and their supporters will try to reverse it with a future ballot measure. However, he remains hopeful.

"They had many conditions going for them in the last election that they do not necessarily have going for them now," Garlow notes. "And most encouraging to us is the fact that support for same-sex 'marriage' is falling in the state."

Support for homosexual marriage has dropped from about 47 percent to 43 percent, according to Garlow. "And they know that, so they have quite an uphill struggle if they were to try it in 2010," he adds. "They may try again in 2012 or 2016, but we're going to be prepared for the battle again, if it requires that."

The pastor points out that activists will have to get a certain number of signatures to qualify for the state ballot, so opponents can avoid a trip to the ballot box by declining to sign it.
