By Mark Batterson
see relatedWild Goose Chase part 1 (cages that we live in)
The following are sermon notes from a message that my Pastor gave last month(January 11,2009) the message is based on a book called Wild Goose Chase: Reclaim the Adventure of Pursuing God by: Mark Batterson. I believe this needs to be heard now more than ever. so I guess you can say that these notes are from the author, the pastor and myself I filled in the gaps between the two with help from the Holy Spirit.another good book by this author is In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day
"Wild Goose chase"
"Chasing the Holy Spirit is like chasing a wild goose" -It is a little known fact that the wild goose is the celtic symbol of the Holy Spirit!
Aa we live our day to day lives we should live them in such a way that our very heart beat is the heart beat of the Father above that our living and dying would honor and glorify the Lord and His son Jesus Christ that in serving others we would be serving the father and not for our own gain. "I want to die doing something that I love doing ... serving my Lord and savior"-Pb. The day that you loose heart, having nothing to live for is the day that you die before your time but ... those have something to die for have something to live for. Jesus had reason to die so he had a reason to live . We need to pursue things of the kingdom of God things that have eternal value.
Don't pursue a career or a job
Pursue the desires of God's heart

(1) cage of Responsibility
Our day to day responsibilities produce responsibilities. The only way put of this cage is Responsible Irresponsibility!! I know it sounds crazy thats what I thought when he said it so I want you to read it again... I f we look at the story of Nehemiah we see that he acted in such a wa y that his actions were Responsibly Irresponsible!! Nehemiah 1:1-4 ; 2:4-5( rebuilding the wall) He did two things:
(1) Nehemiah got a burden for Israel -- Because of the great tragedy of the walls being down in Jerusalem. he had a passion for rebuilding the wall
(2) Then Nehemiah did something jus t crazy..mabey we should dod the same:
(a) He prayed like it depended on God
(b) He worked like it depended on him
How to get out of this cage
If you find your self in the cage of responsibility ask your self these questions...
(1) are you being Responsibly Irresponsible ?
(2) What is your passion? how do you find your passion you ask? first Pray asking God to revel it to you once you fnd it start doing it.
(3) How can I step out of this cage?
next one will be the cage of Routines...
