  Planned Parenthood's Agenda

  With the election of Barack Obama, Planned Parenthood is renewing its thrust for several pieces of legislation that it views as key to its success.

  The two main legislative goals are the Freedom of Choice Act and the Prevention First Act.

  The Freedom of Choice Act would write a woman's "right" to kill her preborn child into law and would prohibit federal, state or local governments from enacting any type of law or regulation that would, in any way, "interfere" with a woman killing her preborn child. Passage of this law would strike down existing restrictions that exist in almost every state and prohibit any new restrictions.

  The Prevention First Act has several components, all of which would fund programs that are promoted by Planned Parenthood and would put millions more of our tax dollars into Planned Parenthood's coffers. These components include:

  • Make Title X (family planning) a permanent program and fund it at $700 million or more.
  • Mandate that health insurance programs that cover prescriptions must cover abortifacient contraceptives.
  • Create a government program to push abortifacient "Emergency Contraception."
  • Take all federal money away from any hospital that refuses to administer the abortifacient Emergency Contraception to victims of rape.
  • Create additional massive government funding for Planned Parenthood style sex education programs (abstinence-only programs are specifically excluded from funding).
  • Permanently include family planning services as part of the Medicaid program.

  All of these programs will result in more babies being killed and more taxpayer money going to the largest abortion chain in the nation ? Planned Parenthood.

  Action

  To fight FOCA and PFA:

  • Sign the American Life League petition against Planned Parenthood's legislative agenda.

  • Contact your members of congress and let them know how you feel about FOCA and PFA. Remember that FOCA is an extreme measure that even many people who call themselves "pro-choice" are against.
    1. Remind your congressional representatives that the overwhelming majority of Americans are in favor of parents being notified when their minor children are to have an abortion. Over 30 states have laws in place requiring some form of parental notification. Yet FOCA would undo this legal requirement.
    2. Point out that almost all Americans find the partial-birth abortion procedure abhorrent and want it stopped. Yet, FOCA would strike down all the laws against this procedure.
